FREQUENTLY-ASKED EMERGENCY ELECTRICIAN QUESTIONS

When we’re out and about in the Brighton and Hove area, we encounter several questions. What better way to address them, we thought, than by collating them all in an enlightening blogpost?

Can you get to me?

Our offices are in Hove, but our electricians will travel to jobs around ten miles away. If you’re based in Brighton, Horsham, Worthing, or anywhere in between, then the chances are that we can get to you. And even if you’re a little bit further afield, we might be able to help. If you’re in search of an emergency electrician in the vicinity of Brighton and Hove, or even slightly further afield, then get in touch – we’ll let you know if we can reach you.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

No, we do not charge for emergency call-outs. Moreover, our service is available twenty-four hours a day.

How much will my job cost?

It’s difficult to provide reliable quotes on a given job without first having seen the property in question. This will allow us to more accurately estimate the time and materials involved. Happily, we’re able to provide no-obligation quotes, free of charge.

How quickly can you be here?

During an emergency, time is often of the essence. We’ll provide you with a reliable time-slot and keep you informed of any delays. If you’re in the Brighton & Hayward’s Heath area, you can expect a rapid response!

How long have you been around?

T.G. Gregory and Sons first came to be in 1999, and we’ve been serving the electrical needs of Hove and the surrounding area ever since. Between them, our team has more than fifty years of experience to draw upon – so you can be sure that your electrical problem is in safe hands.

Can you tell me whether my home is safe?

We’re qualified to run inspections, diagnostics and tests, through which we can determine whether an installation is safe. Should a problem be identified, we’ll be able to identify the precise cause, and prescribe a remedy.

Do you deal with outdoor installations?

Electrical work doesn’t just take place indoors. We’re also able to sort out patio lighting, security floodlights, and external CCTV cameras.

What constitutes an electrical emergency?

Emergency work often involves repairing damage, and correcting faulty installations. Sometimes, the problem is obvious – if smoke and sparks are flying from the sockets, then it’s time to pick up the phone (and turn off the power at the fuse-board). But sometimes, a serious problem might be hidden. Exposed copper around your switches can pose a serious danger, particularly in humid environments like kitchens and bathrooms. And if you’re based in an area like Shoreham-on-Sea, flooding poses a particular risk: when water gets into your electrical system, the results can be disastrous. In such an instance, you need an emergency electrician. So, if you’re based in Brighton or somewhere nearby, then be sure to get in touch!
